You can use the RunCommand statement in a QA Wizard Pro script to launch a DOS command from the Windows command line. The information required for a RunCommand statement includes:

  • Executable path
  • Working directory
  • Command line arguments

Works with Surround SCM 2010 and later

Will not work with Surround SCM 2009 and earlier

This is an example of how to use the Surround SCM API to synchronize a local folder with a repository. It came as a request from one of our documentation folks, who use a tool to produce our HTML files and then need to pump the output of that tool into an existing repository.

Basically, we get a list of the files and directories and check in any existing files, add new files or repositories, and delete old files and repositories.

I got a call from a TestTrack TCM user who asked if you could schedule scripts to run on a continuous scheduled basis, rather than just once. I responded that you couldn’t, mainly because each test run represents a single execution of a test, not a continuous one.

I asked the user for more details in order to better understand the need. He revealed that his group does automated builds and wanted to launch tests after each build and log those results in TestTrack TCM. He wanted to incorporate TestTrack TCM with the automated build process and did not know how to.  So how do you do it? Well the answer will vary depending on your process.
