Google Apps for Business is becoming very popular and a large number of companies use Gmail for business. This allows you to use your own domain but Google runs your email server for you.

If you also use TestTrack, you can use your Gmail hosting service to send TestTrack notifications via email or even import emails if you use the TestTrack email tracking feature.

TestTrack and Surround SCM are part of Seapine ALM, a suite of tools that also includes QA Wizard Pro and Seapine ALM Reporting Platform. As you would expect with tools that are part of a suite, there are many integration points. This video provides a high-level overview of the integration between TestTrack and Surround SCM, including attaching files to defects in Surround SCM and performing diffs in TestTrack.

You can use QA Wizard Pro to test multiple scenarios with large amounts of data by linking to external test data stored in Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, or text files. Folder types in TestTrack is a great feature that enables you to set a number of folder options, including choosing the folder icon that is displayed in the TestTrack folder view. Folder icons help you easily recognize specific folder types, as shown in the following screenshot.

Time tracking in TestTrack is a feature that has been written about on this blog here and there. Time tracking is a pretty straightforward concept. You estimate how long it will take to complete a task and, as you progress, you report on how much effort you have put in and how much time you think there is left to complete the task.

However, time tracking in TestTrack TCM can be tricky because there are two objects, the test case and the test run, to track time for. It can be confusing to know which object you are placing an estimate on and what it really means.
