New capabilities were added to this functionality in Surround SCM 2012, click to read more!

In all the years that I’ve been using Surround SCM, I have occasionally needed to make changes to files when I wasn’t in the office and wasn’t connected to the Surround SCM Server. Once I returned to the office, I needed to sync those changes with Surround SCM.

In this video, I show how to use the Repository Differences feature to sync the changes in working directories with the repository in Surround SCM. Not only is this a useful feature for syncing changes made while working offline, but it’s also useful for managing changes to 3rd-party libraries.

This is a cool feature.
However, when I want to do it, for some reason I don’t see the “Check In…” button.
Why is that?

Martin,

The reason I have this is because I have enabled the ‘lazy locking’ feature in Surround. Under ‘Tools’ > ‘Administration’ > ‘Server Options’ there is a setting to ‘Allow check in of files without checkout’.

Thanks!
This button can be very helpful.

Some feedback:
- It’s a pity that this is a server option, because if I want to see that button to make my life easier I have to change the environment of all my colleagues (and I am not sure if I want to do this).
- A check-out button would also be helpful in this dialog to make it feature complete (and it wouldn’t require me to change the server settings).

Best Regards,
Martin

Martin,

As always we appreciate the feedback. I have added your suggestions so we can consider them for one of our upcoming releases of Surround SCM.
