TestTrack includes Microsoft Outlook integration, which allows you to add Microsoft Outlook emails as new defects, requirements, requirement documents, or test cases or as tracked email to existing items in TestTrack. This short video shows you how to set up the integration during the TestTrack client installation and how to create a new defect directly from Outlook. It also includes an example of how to attach an email to an existing item in TestTrack.

TestTrack includes Microsoft Visual Studio integration, which enables developers to work with defects, requirements, and test cases directly from the Visual Studio interface. Using one interface for your development and having the ability to also see any tasks assigned to you without needing to open another application means it takes less time to quickly address defects in code and mark the defect as fixed in TestTrack.
This video provides a quick overview of the TestTrack integration into Microsoft Visual Studio.
TestTrack and Surround SCM are part of Seapine ALM, a suite of tools that also includes QA Wizard Pro and Seapine ALM Reporting Platform. As you would expect with tools that are part of a suite, there are many integration points. This video provides a high-level overview of the integration between TestTrack and Surround SCM, including attaching files to defects in Surround SCM and performing diffs in TestTrack.

In TestTrack, you have a Check in & Fix button

StumbleUponA week or so ago I was working on “owner code reviews” for changes made during the Surround SCM 2011.0 development process. Part of our code review process is that every source code file is “owned” by a developer and, when another developer makes a change to a file you own, you review it. While I was reviewing files it occurred to me that it would be really nice if the Surround SCM GUI Client had an “Open with Finder” or “Open with Explorer” option that made it easy to open a file with the default application configured for that the particular file extension. For example, Qt UI files would open with “Qt Designer”, header and source files (.h, .c, .cpp) would open with Xcode, etc.

I was recently on-site with a customer. Aside from the usual tasks, like conducting training classes and configuring workflows, there was one interesting challenge. The customer wanted to integrate TestTrack RM and TestTrack TCM with ClearQuest. The customer did not want to use the ClearQuest API because they were using a very old version of ClearQuest and were planning on upgrading. The risk of changes in the API between the versions was high.
Share on Technorati . del.icio.us . Digg . Reddit . Slashdot . Facebook . StumbleUponI have updated our labs page in regards to integration with Microsoft’s Team Foundation Server (TFS). Even though this is not an ‘out of the box’ supported integration, you do have several options.
We had two sample scripts on how TFS could be integrated with TestTrack Pro and TestTrack TCM. I have updated them so they can be used out of the box. Previously they had connection information hard coded, which meant you had to change the source code and recompile in order to use them. I have also added a new article.

StumbleUponIf you are a loyal reader of this blog, chances are that you read Gerhard Kruger’s post about our Visual Studio Integration. In this article, Gerhard talks about accessing TestTrack Pro items and Surround SCM actions from within Visual Studio. I’d like to present a different angle to this integration, specifically, the TestTrack Pro integration.
